Online Applications

Helping my sis out with her poly enrolment forms, and realised that the process is even worse as compared to NTU's enrolment process (or what little I can remember of it).

It seems technology is more hindering, rather than helping.. because half the process is online, and half is offline. So you've got to remember deadlines for both.

Hm, there should be a one-stop website for all Singapore-based government/school/scholarship/interview applications! Then when you sign up as a member and fill in your information ONCE, you don't have to do it over and over again. Business Process Reengineering, woohoo. Someone come up with that please.

Speaking of online applications, I tried to renew my passport online today, and had to fill in page after page of details. And at the very last page, instead of receiving an acknowledgement page, I got a gigantic 'General Error' message. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Recession is so bad, even big brands are re-branding.

Excerpt:

"With Starbucks's new line of breakfast meals, introduced Tuesday in the
United States, the coffee shop chain is hoping its egg sandwiches achieve more
than just the perfect balance of smoky bacon and salty
parmesan cheese.

Executives struggling to reverse the company's recent revenue decline also
play down the difficulty of the balancing act between value
and prestige.
"If we are a premium brand, it doesn't mean we can't
provide value," said Howard Schultz, the chief executive. "We believe when we
come out of this, we will be stronger because we maintained our core customers
and, through providing value, will bring on new customers."
